SEASON-LONG VOLUNTEERS
Sansei Baseball has a responsibility to ensure the safety of our members so that they can fully enjoy our community and sport. In order to meet this goal and comply with State law, the League requires volunteers from each team to fulfill prerequisites before the start of the season.
Mandated Reporter: AB506 requires each team to have, at a minimum, two (2) adult volunteers (18+) that will serve as "mandated reporters" to prevent child abuse and neglect. Mandated reporters are adult volunteers that will spend more than 16 hours per month, or more than 32 hours per year, in direct contact with the players. These volunteers will need to complete a background check (Live Scan) and an online training course. The League requires the head coach of each team to be one of the mandated reporters; the other role can be filled by an assistant coach, parent rep, or other adult that will be present at most team functions.
Coaches' Safety Training: AB379 requires all coaches on a team to complete online or in-person training courses for concussion and head injury, and sudden cardia arrest prevention education at least once before the beginning of the season.
The
attached info sheet has more detailed information, links to training courses, and FAQs. When registering for season-long volunteer roles through the Sansei website portal, you can upload the required training course completion certificates for your role:
Head Coach: "Mandated Reporter", "Concussion and Head Injury", and "Sudden Cardiac Arrest"
Assistant Coach: "Mandated Reporter" (only if fulfilling role for team), "Concussion and Head Injury", and "Sudden Cardiac Arrest"
Parent Rep: "Mandated Reporter" (only if fulfilling role for team)
Mandated Reporter: "Mandated Reporter"
If the training was completed for the Spring 2024 season, that certificate may be used for the Spring 2025 season as well; however, the League highly recommends volunteers to refresh their applicable training annually.
If there are any questions, comments or concerns, please reach out to the League's Volunteer Compliance Coordinator, Shozo Yoshikawa (
